    How To: Style Summer Florals

    Colorful prints are everywhere this summer, and florals are my favorite of all to style! Whether you go big & bold or soft & sweet, there are so many ways to add a touch of feminine to your wardrobe. This month, I’ve teamed up with The Ms. Collection, a personal styling and clothing rental subscription service, for this challenge.

    FLORAL ACCENTS

    Some things are best enjoyed in moderation (so they say!) so if you like flowers in small doses, try adding them to your jewelry or your feet! I paired this black off-shoulder blouse with white jeans for a casual, effortless look. I added neon floral pops of color with bright earrings and strappy heels. Extra points for using distressed denim, which makes for an interesting contrast with flowers! Of course I can’t leave out this purse — which is now 33% off and combines bright summer colors and the clear tote trend in one perfect little package!

    KEEP IT SWEET

    Wanna keep your florals looking feminine? This sweet wrap dress fits the bill with its baby blue and pastel pink accents. I paired it with this awesome bucket bag (a steal at $50 compared to the designer $350 version!) and pulled the pastel pink into these burst-style earrings which mimic a floral shape.

    BRIGHT & BOLD

    I adore bold colors, so when I spotted this watercolor infused zip-up skirt in my The Ms. Collection pack, I was simply in love! When a pattern is bold, I like to keep other elements like this camisole and my shoes subtle. Accessories give you plenty of options to change the look, so whether you pull out a pop of color or keep it neutral with creams, the options are endless! I wore this outfit to The Blogger Closet Sale at Market Street and received endless compliments — score another win for The Ms. Collection! 🙂

    ADD SOME TEXTURE

    Florals are naturally “soft”, so I like adding texture to floral outfits to create plenty of extra interest. The Ms. Collection sent me this pretty floral tie-waist dress that’s office and brunch appropriate, but I decided to take it in a totally different direction!

    For this outfit, I popped on a floppy hat and grabbed a bamboo bag — both accessories are summer must-haves! Then I added suede leather sandals just to throw one more texture into the mix. I think the end result is fun and memorable!

    THE BOX

    Brandon received four great pieces that were perfect for work AND weekend wear. He usually defaults to a button-down shirt or henley each day, and that’s exactly what The Mr. Collection delivered!

    • Great button-down, just a little too big
    • Brandon’s Fav: A Basic Henley
    • Loved the shirt, but too tight in the shoulders
    • This was a favorite, just too tight.

    Brandon loved the concept — he only needed to spend a few minutes on the survey, and after that, there was no effort required until he tried on the clothes! Because he’s a tall guy with broad shoulders and a long waist, he often struggles with finding the perfect fit. We were able to submit the sizing feedback through his member account so they can make adjustments for the next pack. We feel confident that his next pack will be spot on, and can’t wait to see what the stylists at The Mr. Collection come up with next!

    I received my second box from The Ms. Collection which was also filled with great pieces that easily paired with other items I already had in my wardrobe — I even had the perfect merlot heels to pair with that beautiful leather skirt! Here are a few pics:

    What a fun outfit! Each piece from my The Ms. Collection box was unique and memorable.

    MY FIRST BOX

    I was impressed with the awesome variety of the four pieces in my box. In my experience with other subscription services it often takes a few times to figure out sizing or taste, but The Ms. Collection nailed it on the first try. The pieces are meant to seamlessly integrate into your wardrobe, and they definitely did!

    I felt ready to salsa in this hot number — the top and the skirt are both from The Ms. Collection box!

    For my first look, I paired the skirt and sweater together — certainly a perfect look for Valentine’s or Christmas. But this sassy skirt is one that would also make a statement any day of the year!

    Loving the cut and the quality of this blouse!

    Next I tried on the BB Dakota wrap top. Most wrap tops can fit a little funky on my chest and shoulders, but this one was PERFECT. I added white cropped jeans and some grey sneakers to create a transitional spring look, but this top would just as easily pair well with shorts or dark denim.

    Just for fun I put on the blazer, and even though it didn’t necessarily match any of the colors in my blouse, it still looked great! The one-button design of the blazer made it chic, effortless, and elevated my casual look. I also put the blazer over a basic white tee and dark denim, and in my opinion, nailed that look too!

    MY THOUGHTS

    The Ms. Collection is a great concept — especially if you’re looking for some variety in your wardrobe and pressed for time! To be able to use four pieces of clothes (with a retail value over $300) during the month for $69 and then send them back makes such great sense. I’m impressed with the brands selected for me and even more pleased with the way that each item fit. I can’t wait to give The Mr. Collection a try too — I know that Brandon will love having new clothes without needing to go shopping!
